Obsidian
The deepest black in your kit, without flatness.
Jet black with a deep blue-black sheen — like obsidian stone.
Why this shade
Most demi-permanent blacks read as a wet shadow on dry hair. Obsidian carries a cool blue undertone that catches light, so the depth never collapses into a single matte plane. Use it where a permanent jet-black would be overkill but the client still wants the full depth of a level 1.
Who it's for
The client who walks in with naturally near-black hair that has dulled, faded warm at the lengths, or absorbed coppery oxidation from the last colour. Also the corporate client who wants the visual authority of true black without committing to a permanent grow-out.
- Asian and Mediterranean clients refreshing natural-black bases
- Clients with permanent black 4–6 weeks post-service, faded to brown-warm
- Editorial / fashion-week looks calling for high-contrast jet
In the chair
Apply neat to clean, towel-dried hair. The blue undertone does the heavy lifting — no need to add a violet or ash booster. Process for the full 20 minutes to lock the depth into the cuticle. Expect 6–8 weeks of true depth before noticeable warm shift.
- Clean midshafts and ends — no shampoo barrier
- Process 20 minutes; do not undercook a level 1
- Rinse cool to seal the cuticle and lock the blue reflect
For corrective work on warm-pulled black: pre-tone with a small amount of 7T Graphite mixed into the bowl (10% by weight) to push extra blue-cool into the formula.
